Our Rob Barklamb was recently approached by someone calluing herself Sarah Wood at Reed Recruitment UK about a job. Fortunately, Rob soon sussed her out (he'd had a coffee and was feeling sharp!) - he also had the benefit of being able to look her up in the internal directory. But what if you're not a recruiter and you get such an approach? Here are some red flags every job seeker should be aware of: 1. Generic Greetings - Phrases like "Dear Candidate" or "Dear Sir/Madam" without any personalisation can be a red flag. 🚩 2. Vague Job Descriptions - If the job offer lacks specific details and responsibilities, it could be a bot-generated post. 3. Too Good to be True - Offers that promise exorbitantly high salaries or benefits with little to no experience required should raise suspicion. 4. Suspicious Links - Be wary of job offers directing you to unknown websites or platforms for further information. 5. Poor Grammar and Spelling - Many bot-generated job offers contain numerous grammatical errors and poorly constructed sentences. Remember to stay vigilant and trust your instincts.
